MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

CITY COMMISSION-CITY HALL

January 22, 2001

7:00 p.m.

Mayor Ray opened the meeting; City Mgr. Lay gave the invocation.

Comm. Vencion made the motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as received, seconded by Comm. Jones, voted unanimous.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS Gilbert told the Commission his crews were still looking for a water leak.  He stated they had fixed several leaks but was still loosing a considerable amount of water.

City Mgr. Lay told the Commission that a professional company that deals in leak detection would be here Friday.     

Gilbert stated he had dug a well at the Sportsplex only going about 4’ before hitting solid rock.

6A)  WATER RATION RESOLUTION City Mgr. Lay read the Water Ration Resolution to the Commission.

Comm. Jones made the motion to pass this Resolution, seconded by Comm. Vencion, voted unanimous.

6B)  BUDGET UPDATE City Mgr. Lay gave a run down on the 2000-2001 budget.  He stated all departments seem to being good and that we were right at 50% where we should be.

6C)  CDBG RESOLUTION City Mgr. Lay presented a Resolution for a CDBG application.  He is to check about the City paying their portion out of general sales tax.

Comm. White made the motion to adopt the CDBG Resolution, seconded by Vice-Mayor Creasy, voted unanimous.

Jackie Gobbell came before the Commission about the water sprinkler system at the Sportsplex.  City Mgr. Lay explained to Mr. Gobbell that we were checking on wells for the water supply first.

Jackie Gobbell ask the status of a streetlight being put in on J. W. Ray Drive.  City Mgr. Lay explained.

OPEN ITEMS: City Mgr. Lay told the Commission 3 persons had submitted requests to be annexed on Hwy. 13 South.  They are Josephine Ray, Billy Kelly and Gerald Baer.  Some discussion was had concerning footage and etc.

City Mgr. Lay gave the Commission a copy of the City’s Dental Plan and ask if the Commission wanted on this plan.

Vice-Mayor Creasy ask about the sewer problem on Butler Street at Paul Ary’s.  City Mgr. Lay stated at the last big rain he and Gilbert looked in several manholes.  He explained further.

There being no further business the motion was made by Comm. White to adjourn and seconded by Comm. Jones.  Said meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
