MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
CITY COMMISSION-CITY HALL
7:00 p.m.
Mayor Ray opened the meeting; City Mgr. Lay gave the
invocation.
Comm. Jones made the motion to approve the previous
minutes of January 22, January 25, and February 1, 2001 as received, seconded by
Vice-Mayor Creasy, voted unanimous.
CITIZENS TO ADDRESS COMMISSION: Mrs. Hollis
came before the Commission upset over her Natural Gas bill. She tried to
explain to the Commission she felt her bill should not be more than her
neighbors.
City Mgr. Lay explained her meter was under read
last month and that he would fix this. He also stated he offered to change out
her meter, have a service man check for leaks and if anything was found wrong
then he would compensate her.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS: Gilbert stated they had
put in the gas at the new school and also that the WasteWater Plant has been
repaired.
Chief Seitz told the Commission we had received a
call from Van Hilleary’s office that the School Resource Grant has been
approved.
City Mgr. Lay told the Commission he had one water
connection application for Michael Byrd. After some discussion the Commission
gave the o.k.
City Mgr. Lay stated he had received an application
for annexation from Green River Baptist Church.
6A) SPRINKLER SYSTEM City Mgr. Lay told the
Commission that the materials cost for the sprinkler system at Sportsplex ranged
from $3,000 to $6,000.
Jackie Gobbell told the Commission that if they
purchased the materials, have the prison crew do the labor, and then he would
supervisor this project for $3,500.
Comm. Vencion made the motion to let Jackie Gobbell
supervise this project but if it runs over $15,000 come back before the
Commission first, seconded by Comm. White, voted unanimous.
OPEN ITEMS: Comm. White ask about the tile at
A. C. Walkers. Gilbert to check this out.
Comm. Vencion ask about the progress at the Water
Plant. City Mgr. Lay stated there was still no change. He explained further.
Comm. Vencion ask about the plans on the new fire
hall. City Mgr. Lay explained he was waiting for the building plans.
Comm. Vencion ask about property lines for
annexation. After some discussion the motion was made by Comm. Vencion to set
property lines for annexation from property line to property line with a minimum
200’ in back, seconded by Vice-Mayor Creasy, voted unanimous.
Comm. Jones ask if the next meeting was the deadline
for Mr. Minor on the Haggard building.
There being no further business the motion was made
by Comm. Vencion to adjourn and seconded by Comm. White. Said meeting adjourned
at 8:30 p.m.
