MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

CITY COMMISSION-CITY HALL

July 10, 2000

7:00 p.m.

Mayor Ray opened the meeting with City Mgr. Lay giving the invocation.

Comm. Vencion made the motion to approve all 3 sets of minutes as received, seconded by Vice-Mayor Creasy, voted unanimous.

CITIZENS TO ADDRESS COMMISSION Ms. Wilton Glenn, Mr. Jim Tanner and wife Gail Tanner came before the Commission asking for an indoor pool.  Mr. Tanner stated this could be a year round facility.  Some discussions were had concerning cost and etc.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS Gilbert stated his crew had been doing routine maintenance, still changing out water meters and doing sewer repairs.

Mike Thomasson stated the construction on the Water Plant was to have been completed on July 6th. but wasn’t.  He stated Dean Harrison was to send letter to Quinn Construction about liquidated damages.

Some discussion was had concerning water being low at Green River.  The consensus of the Commission was to let Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon do a water study on 48 creek.

City Mgr. Lay stated he had received an application for water service for David S. Taylor on Hwy. 64 West.  He explained water was already in this area but that the City would have to bore under the road.  The Commission gave their o.k. to proceed in making a water connection.

6A)  BUDGET City Mgr. Lay gave the Commission a copy of raise structure for employee raises.  Some discussion was had.

Comm. Jones made the motion to table this til Friday July 14th. at 7:00 p.m., seconded by Comm. Vencion, voted unanimous.

OPEN ITEMS: Comm. White stated the tile was stopped up before you get to A. C. Walker’s property.

Comm. White ask if anything had been done concerning Paul McWilliams.  City Mgr. Lay to get estimate on this.  Also, Gilbert is to work on the ditch with backhoe when it is dry enough.

Comm. Vencion told the Commission something needs to be done with the T. B. Garth property on Hwy. 64 West, Linda Kelly property on Hwy. 13 South and property on Walnut Street.

Mayor Ray stated Josephine Ray had ask him when the City would be annexing property on Hwy. 13 South.

Vice-Mayor Creasy made the motion to advertise for public hearing on annexing right-of-way plus two city buildings, seconded by Comm. Vencion.  Motion passed 4 to 1, Comm. Jones voted no.

There being no further business to come before the Commission the motion was made by Comm. White to adjourn, seconded by Vice-Mayor Creasy.  Said meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
