MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

CITY COMMISSION-CITY HALL

September 10, 2001 7:00 p.m.

 

Mayor Ray opened the meeting; City Mgr. Lay gave the invocation.

Comm. Jones made the motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as received, seconded by Comm. White, and voted unanimous.

CITIZENS TO ADDRESS COMMISSION

Mr. Aishe of Barlow Road ask the Commission if they could get something done about the yards grown up in his area.  City Mgr. Lay to have City crew bush hog then get someone to dress these areas up.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Gilbert stated his crew have been mowing again and also have repaired a couple of water main breaks.

City Mgr. Lay stated Tim was having a Parks Board meeting tonight to discuss the Pumpkin Harvest Festival.

6A) TEXAS BOOT

City Mgr. Lay introduce the individuals from Texas Boot.  Texas Boot management met with the Commission to discuss their situation.

10 minute recess.

Mayor Ray called the meeting to order.

6B)  HOME GRANT RESOLUTION

City Mgr. Lay gave the Commission a copy of a Resolution on the Home Grant Program which consists of $467,231.

Comm. Jones made the motion to adopt the Resolution, seconded by Comm. Vencion, voted unanimous.

6C)  BUDGET

City Mgr. Lay stated that the Commission had ask if any of the sales tax money was funding the Sportsplex.  His answer was yes and he explained further.

A lengthy discussion was had concerning Sportsplex expenses and income.

Next the Commission discussed raises.

The Commission to have a special meeting on September 17, 2001 concerning Texas Boot and Budget.

OPEN ITEMS:

Vice-Mayor Creasy ask about the meeting with Tennessee Apparel he didn’t know anything about.

Vice-Mayor Creasy stated people were still getting gravel out from under the bridge.

Vice-Mayor Creasy ask if 21st. Century owed the City a lot of money on utility bills.  City Mgr. Lay stated they have paid half and would pay the other this week.

Vice-Mayor Creasy ask about the pony and dog situation on Stockard Street what has been done.  He stated now the resident has an electric fence in the yard for the pony.  City Mgr. Lay to check this out.

Vice-Mayor Creasy ask about the Water Plant.  City Mgr. Lay stated they were still waiting on the pipe.

Vice-Mayor Creasy stated the Golena Bratton property on Hwy. 99 needs mowing.

Vice-Mayor Creasy ask about the old City Hall.  City Mgr. Lay stated the prison crew were painting and etc.

Comm. Vencion ask Lt. Bolitho about the school traffic.  Lt. Bolitho told the Commission he thought they had something worked out on the traffic.

Comm. Vencion ask about paving.  City Mgr. Lay stated he and Gilbert have already looked at some to the places needing paved today.

Comm. Vencion ask the Commission to be thinking about renaming the bridge at Hurricane Creek for Bluford Edwards.

Comm. Jones ask what time the school opened up in the mornings to receive children.  The answer was 7:30 a.m.

There being no further business the motion was made by Comm. White to adjourn and seconded by Comm. Vencion.  Said meeting adjourned at 8:23 p.m.
