The City of Waynesboro is
currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Position Description
A Patrol Officer for the
Waynesboro Police Department will be required to perform at a minimum the
following duties:
-
Perform security duties
in assigned areas; maintains surveillance of buildings and grounds to stop
incidences of break-ins, theft, and other criminal activities;
-
Patrol city and state
highways, monitoring traffic and safety conditions, enforcing state traffic
and criminal laws;
-
Respond to calls for
services from citizens, assist citizens in resolving neighborhood conflicts,
-
Prepares crash reports
for and investigates traffic crashes;
-
Apprehends and arrests
suspects when necessary; detains suspects until other officers arrive;
-
Preserves crime scenes
for investigators, collects and processes evidence for submission to crime
labs;
-
Prepares and documents
evidence for submission to crime labs and courtroom testimony
-
Provides security for
government officials, employees and visiting dignitaries as needed;
-
Performs investigations
of reported criminal acts; assists investigators with more detailed
investigations;
-
Provides information and
directions to public and visiting government officials;
-
Establishes and
maintains a variety of personal contacts with state officials and employees as
well as the general public;
-
Prepares and completes a
variety of reports; arrest, incident, investigative, crash, ect.;
-
Testifies in municipal
court, general sessions court, circuit court and federal court cases in which
involved;
-
Present case information
before grand jury.
Qualifications
-
Peace Officers Standards and Training
Commission Certified or capable of challenging and successfully passing the
P.O.S.T. Examination
-
21 years of age
-
Good oral and written communication
skills
-
Computer skills preferred
-
Capable of successfully qualifying
with departmental issued service weapon
Individuals applying for the position of Patrol Officer with
the Waynesboro Police will be required to provide the following documents to
PRIOR to being eligible for this position.
