The Waynesboro Police Department educates the Citizens of Waynesboro and surrounding area, about law enforcement duties, by providing them with an FREE eight week program. Citizens meet with the staff of the Waynesboro Police Department once a week for two hours, where they are given instruction on Basic Police orientated subjects, and Departmental Operations. Subjects include but are not limited to:
U.S. Constitution and Rights
Basic Police Operation
DUI / Field Sobriety Testing
Domestic Violence Situations
Criminal Investigations
Firearms Familiarization / RANGE DAY
Patrol Tactics
All topics are taught by State Certified, Waynesboro Police Officers. All citizens enrolled will be given the opportunity to ask questions about Police Operations.
After completing the Academy, the citizen will be given an opportunity to ride one full (8) eight hour shift, with his/her choice of officer. A certificate will also be issued.

Qualifications Required to attend the Academy: -U.S. Citizen -18 Years of Age -No prior convictions for DUI/FELONY/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/IMMORAL CRIMES -Good Moral Character -Motivated and willing to learn |
