A Message From the Chief of Police

Welcome to the official website of the Waynesboro Police Department.

I am proud to be the Police Chief for the City of Waynesboro and thoroughly enjoy working to better serve the citizens.  The Waynesboro Police Department will strive to complete our goals to make Waynesboro a safer city by reducing drug activity as well as the many other crimes by working in partnership with you, the community.

Some of the tools we use to provide information and help educate our community members is this web site and our many public education training classes.  We currently offer classes such as a Citizens Police Academy, Tennessee Handgun Permit Course, and Drug Education Classes as well as having an excellent Youth Explorer Program.

One of the WPD’s core values is to strive for quality through continuous improvement by progressing to the future by understanding the past. We will continue to improve our service to you, our citizens, by listening to your concerns and implementing proactive solutions to resolve issues.  An excellent resource is our Operation Silent Witness Program.  Operation Silent Witness is a community based program that gives you an opportunity to get involved.  It allows you to confidentially report crimes that you know are occurring within our communities.  I ensure you that your tips are completely confidential and that we will follow up on all information received.

To better serve you, our department has recently underwent some rigorous changes in order to become CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) Recognized.  The CALEA Recognition Program identifies 110 standards from the Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies accreditation manual. These standards address (1) life, health and safety issues, (2) critical legal issues, and (3) conditions that reduce risk and high liability exposure. Once complete, this program will show the dedication, commitment and professionalism of the officers employed at the Waynesboro Police Department.  This program will assist our department in better serving you.

We have just begun these improvements. In the near future you are going to see even more changes to our department. Changes that we hope will encourage you to become involved in working with us to make Waynesboro a great community in which to live and work.  The Waynesboro Police Department is committed to working along side, not against, other law enforcement agencies in our community.  By pooling our resources we will make Waynesboro and its surrounding communities a better place for you.  Thank you in advance for any assistance that you may provide.
